Let's Peek Into The Life of Tigress Maya

A Journey from Cub to the Regal Queen of Tadoba

Maya, the mention name, conjures an image of a magnificent, powerful, and confident tigress who holds the title of queen in Tadoba. The name "Maya" perfectly captures her essence, and it's no wonder everyone adores her. She reigns over Pandharpauni, enchanting the Tadoba Jungle with her magical presence. Also known as T-12, Maya has generously contributed to the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, earning her a special place in the hearts of locals and tourists alike. Her fearless nature makes her a beloved figure, and remarkably, she's unbothered by the presence of humans. Through the years, Maya has established her rule in the North Prime Area (Pandharpauni), leaving an incredible mark on Tadoba's landscape.

Let’s Break It Down the Journey of Maya

Birth Maya came into this world in 2010 in Pandharpauni, Tadoba. Her parents, Nira and W-male (popularly known as Hilltop Tiger) welcomed her along with her three siblings: Lata, Chaya, and Pandu. Among them, Maya has two sisters and one brother. Sadly, tragedy struck when Nira, Maya's mother, passed away due to a snake bite shortly after giving birth.
Growth As Maya became matured, she spent her early years alongside her four siblings. Eventually, she instigated them to get out of that area, and then she ruled the entire North Prime Area. Maya's determined and bold approach made her to dominate the region for several years.
Tiger's Mate Maya's love life unfolded over the years. In 2014, she paired up with Gabbar Tiger, welcoming two cubs into the world. The following year, in 2015, Maya became a mother to three adorable cubs with Saturn. In 2017, her family grew by two more as she had babies with Matkasur. Fast forward to 2020, Maya expanded her family even further, having five cubs with Tala, and she welcomed one more cub with Balram.
Children Maya has experienced motherhood five times, bringing a total of 13 cubs into the world. Unfortunately, only two of them managed to survive, one is missing, and another found a new home in Umred Karndhala. Tragically, 13 of Maya's cubs faced challenges such as fights, disappearances, and attacks by wild animals, leading to their demise. Despite these heart-wrenching losses, Maya remains a symbol of strength and confidence in the Tadoba jungle.
Rule Movements / Relocated Areas Maya held sway over the northern prime area for many years. She fiercely defended her territory, showing patience, sharp thinking, and clever strategies to navigate interactions with male tigers. Her ability to manage these encounters showcased her impressive presence of mind in maintaining her rule.
End According to the latest information, Maya has been missing since August, and a skeleton discovered in the Tadoba jungle has raised concerns that it might be hers.
